Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 23, 2026
1. Overview
FocusTime ("we", "our", or "the app") is a desktop productivity application designed to help you manage focus sessions, tasks, and notes. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you register or sign in, we collect:
- Your email address
- Your password (stored securely using industry-standard encryption — never in plain text)
2.2 Profile Data
Optionally, you may provide:
- A display name
- A profile avatar (an image you upload)
2.3 Productivity Data
All data you create within the app is stored under your account:
- Focus sessions — duration, timestamps, and linked tasks
- Tasks and Projects — titles, descriptions, due dates, completion status, estimated Pomodoros, subtasks, and project colors
- Notes — note titles, content, and hierarchical folder structure
- Attachments — files and images attached to tasks or notes
- Favorites — your pinned notes and tasks
- Stream Sounds — ambient audio URLs you save
2.4 Focus & Distraction Blocking
To power the blocking features, we store:
- Blocked websites — URLs you choose to block during focus sessions
- Blocked notification apps — application names you mute during focus sessions
Note: Website blocking is applied by temporarily modifying your system's hosts file. No browsing history is collected or transmitted.
2.5 Shared Items (Inbox)
When you share a task or note with another user, we store:
- Your email address as the sender
- The recipient's email address
- The title and content of the shared item
2.6 Feedback
If you submit feedback through the app, we store your user ID and message.
2.7 Local Session Data
Your login session is persisted locally on your device so the app can keep you signed in between launches. This data never leaves your device except to renew your authentication with our servers.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your data solely to provide and improve FocusTime:

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or analytics purposes.
4. Infrastructure & Security

- All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Passwords are never stored in plain text and are managed using industry-standard secure authentication
