1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using FocusTime ("the app", "we", "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the app.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use FocusTime. By using the app, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have parental or guardian consent.

3. Account Registration

• You must provide a valid email address and a secure password to create an account.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use FocusTime only for lawful, personal productivity purposes. You must not:

• Use the app to transmit harmful, abusive, or illegal content
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' data
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app
• Use automated scripts or bots to interact with the app
• Share your account with others or create accounts on behalf of others without authorization
• Use the app in any way that could damage, overload, or impair our infrastructure

5. User Content

5.1 Ownership

You retain ownership of all content you create within the app — including tasks, notes, projects, and attachments ("User Content").

5.2 License to Us

By storing content in the app, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and transmit your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.

5.3 Your Responsibility

You are solely responsible for the content you create and share. We do not monitor User Content but reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms.

6. Sharing Features

FocusTime allows you to share tasks and notes with other users by their email address. By using this feature:

• You confirm you have permission to share the content with the recipient
• You accept responsibility for what you share
• Recipients may dismiss or delete shared items from their inbox at any time

7. Focus & Distraction Blocking

The website and notification blocking features require elevated system permissions (e.g., administrator access on Windows) to modify your system's hosts file and notification settings.

• You grant the app permission to make these temporary changes while a focus session is active
• All changes are reversed when the focus session ends or the app is closed
• We are not responsible for any unintended system behavior resulting from conflicts with third-party software or security tools

8. Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in and to FocusTime — including its design, code, branding, and features — are owned by us. Nothing in these Terms grants you any ownership rights to the app itself.

You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works from the app without our explicit written permission.

9. Privacy

Your use of FocusTime is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the app, you consent to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Updates & Changes to the App

We may release updates to the app from time to time. Some updates may be applied automatically. We reserve the right to:

• Add, modify, or remove features at any time
• Discontinue the app or any part of it with reasonable notice where possible

Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of any changes.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

FocusTime is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:

• The app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses
• The app will meet your specific requirements
• Any data loss will not occur

You use the app at your own risk.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to:

• Loss of data or productivity
• System changes made by the blocking features
• Unauthorized access to your account due to your own negligence

Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the app (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim.

13. Termination

You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access without notice if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct harmful to other users or to us.

Upon termination, your data may be retained for a limited period as required by law or our data retention policies, after which it will be permanently deleted.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. Your continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which we operate, without regard to conflict of law principles.
